Online Catalog User Guide

PTC Library uses Primo to manage its online catalog and help patrons find books, articles, videos, and renew books.

Logging In

Signing in to the library catalog allows you access to electronic resources like articles and ebooks, as well as access to request items from your library. It also allows you to pin and save items for later access and to export search results. If you aren't signed in, you'll see a yellow banner across the top of your page:

Follow these steps to sign in to your account.

  1. Click "Sign In" in the upper right hand corner of the page.
  2. Sign in with your institutional credentials. This is usually a ".edu" email address and a password.
  3. If you don't have institutional credentials, talk to your library staff about creating a community borrower account!

When to Request an Item

  • The item you’re looking for is checked out
  • Your library doesn’t have the item you’re looking for
  • You’d like a digital copy of part of an item

How to Request an Item

Search for the item using the PASCAL Delivers search scope for best results.

See the Basic Search Tips and Advanced Search pages for more information on how to find what you’re looking for!
Open the full record for the item once you find it by clicking on it in the search results.
See the Viewing Item Details page for tips on the different information available in a full record.

In the "Get It" section, click on the appropriate button for what you’d like to request.
It can look like any of the following:

Fill out the form in question, adding any details relevant to your item.

If you’re requesting through PASCAL Delivers, select your preferred pickup location and library branch, if applicable. You can pick up your item at any participating PASCAL library across the state!

You can also request a digital copy from a participating PASCAL library if your institution doesn’t offer digitization services. Check the “I only need a specific chapter or pages” box to do so. If you’re requesting a digital copy, be sure to double check your page numbers.

Read the copyright agreement carefully before submitting your request.

Click the green “Submit Request” button at the bottom of the form when you’re finished. You will receive an email from your library when the item is ready for pick up!

Reviewing Requests and Loans

After signing in, click on your name in the top right corner of the screen, then select either “My Loans” or “My Requests”.

On the "Loans" screen in "My Library Card", you'll see a list of your currently active loans. If you'd like to view past loans, select the dropdown menu in the top left corner.

On each line, you'll  see the title and author of the item that is or was checked out, as well as the due date and relevant pickup location information. Click each loan to expand it and see additional information about the item that you've checked out as well as about the loan itself. If your loans are eligible for renewal, you are able to manage that on this screen as well.

On the "Requests" screen within "My Library Card", you'll see a list of your currently active requests.

On each line, you can see details about the item you've requested, the type of request, and the status of that request. As before, click on a request to expand it and view additional information. If you'd like to cancel a request, you can do that on this screen as well.

Navigate to the other tabs in the "My Library Card" section to manage your requests, messages, personal details, and more.
See the Managing Your Account page for more information on what you can do with your library account!
