Online Catalog User Guide

PTC Library uses Primo to manage its online catalog and help patrons find books, articles, videos, and renew books.

Logging In

Signing in to the library catalog allows you access to electronic resources like articles and ebooks, as well as access to request items from your library. It also allows you to pin and save items for later access and to export search results. If you aren't signed in, you'll see a yellow banner across the top of your page:

Follow these steps to sign in to your account.

  1. Click "Sign In" in the upper right hand corner of the page.
  2. Sign in with your institutional credentials. This is usually a ".edu" email address and a password.
  3. If you don't have institutional credentials, talk to your library staff about creating a community borrower account!

Viewing Your Library Card

After signing in, click your name in the top right-hand corner of the screen and click on "My Library Card". You'll be taken to an overview of your library account.

Here, you can get a quick glance at all the different areas within your account: current loans, requests, any fines or fees that you may owe, and any blocks or messages on your account. If you've borrowed or requested items from another PASCAL library across the state, you can see any library account details at those institutions by selecting them on the left-hand side of the screen. You'll see a clipboard icon next to any institutions that have active information.

Reviewing Requests and Loans

After signing in, click on your name in the top right corner of the screen, then select either “My Loans” or “My Requests”.

On the "Loans" screen in "My Library Card", you'll see a list of your currently active loans. If you'd like to view past loans, select the dropdown menu in the top left corner.

On each line, you'll  see the title and author of the item that is or was checked out, as well as the due date and relevant pickup location information. Click each loan to expand it and see additional information about the item that you've checked out as well as about the loan itself. If your loans are eligible for renewal, you are able to manage that on this screen as well.

On the "Requests" screen within "My Library Card", you'll see a list of your currently active requests.

On each line, you can see details about the item you've requested, the type of request, and the status of that request. As before, click on a request to expand it and view additional information. If you'd like to cancel a request, you can do that on this screen as well.

Viewing Fines, Fees, Blocks, and Messages

The Fines & Fees section of "My Library Card" displays any fines or fees you've incurred with your library. Note that you are not able to pay these fines and fees within the library catalog. Please speak to your library staff to settle any fines or fees.

On this page, you'll see each fine or fee, the reason for the charge, and the date of the charge. Click on the fine to expand it and see additional information. You can see the total balance on your library account at the top of the list.

In the Blocks & Messages section of "My Library Card", you can see local and global blocks that have been put on your account, and any note that a librarian has added to your account. If you are unsure what any of these messages mean, ask your library staff for help.

Viewing and Updating Personal Details

Please note: If you use your institutional credentials to log in to the library catalog, contact your library staff for assistance in managing your personal details.

The Personal Details section of "My Library Card" has information specific to you, such as your name, address, email, and phone number. These details should be the same as they are in your institution's system. If they don't match, let a library staff member know.

Note that you are able to update or remove any of the information from your account at any time, by clicking the pencil icon next to "Edit Details". Make any changes, and then click "Save Changes" to save them, or "Discard" to get out of edit mode without saving.

Changing Your Password

Please note: If you use your institutional credentials to log in to the library catalog, contact your library staff for assistance in managing your personal details.

If you ever need to update your password, you can do so in the Personal Details section of "My Library Card". Click on the words "Update Login Credentials", then enter your current password. Enter a secure new password, then enter it again and click "Save".
