Open Educational Resources

Since the launch of BMCC’s Open/Alternative Textbook Program in spring 2015, BMCC faculty have been leading CUNY in redesigning their courses with open educational resources (OER) and other no-cost materials available online and through the Library. Since 2015, over 200 faculty have participated in several zero textbook cost (ZTC) initiatives, including the Achieving the Dream OER Grant Program, NY State OER Fund, and the Gates Foundation Waymaker Study. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. The books can be downloaded at no cost, or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions; or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization.
