Respiratory Care: Books/eBooks

Reference Resources

Reference resources are excellent for finding introductory information on your topic that provides an accessible, broad overview. Dictionaries, encyclopedias, and the Credo Reference Database are great places to search for short articles that provide a good starting point for research.

Find Books in PTC Libraries

Use the library's online catalog to search for books, both print and electronic copies.  However, not all of the library's eBooks are included in the PTC library catalog. For access to all available eBooks, search the individual eBook collections. The catalog also contains titles for DVDs, CDs, as well as other audiovisual and electronic resources.

Catalog Quick Search

When searching the catalog, you may search by keyword, author, title, or subject.

Sample Search Terms:

  • Airway management
  • Artificial respiration
  • Asthma
  • Breathing exercises
  • Intubation
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Respiration
  • Respiratory therapy - Case studies

If you need books that the PTC library does not have, you may request items from other SC academic libraries by using PASCAL Delivers.

PASCAL Delivers

  • Use the library's online catalog to search for and request books from other SC academic libraries.  After typing in your search terms, select the PASCAL Delivers search scope to limit your search to PASCAL Delivers items.
  • Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a service in which the PTC Library staff will find, locate and request books or articles from other libraries and have the books or copies of the articles sent to the PTC Library for checkout.

Finding Books Worldwide:

  • To search for books in libraries worldwide, search Worldcat. Request items through Interlibrary Loan if not available in the PTC or PASCAL Libraries.
