Library FAQs

Library hours vary by location.

Library fines are 10₵ per day per checked out item. The maximum library fine fee is $10.
The lost fee for books and DVDs is $40. For paperbacks, the lost fee is $10.

Residents of the Greenwood community may apply for a PTC Library Community Borrower’s ID to check out library materials. Please see the Borrowing Library Materials guidelines.

To connect to the Library's Wi-Fi as a guest, turn on the wi-fi button on your smart device and select the Guest network.

The Library has four study rooms. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students, faculty, or staff may reserve study rooms for special occasions.

We welcome purchase recommendations or requests from the PTC community for books, media, periodicals, or electronic resources. Your recommendation will be evaluated based on the Library's collection development policies and current budget.

A photocopier is located by the Library's entrance door.
Black and white copies are $.10 per copy and color copies are $.50 per copy.

Currently, it is not possible to pay library fees online or by using debit/credit cards. When paying library fees, only payment by cash or check is accepted. Payment of library fees using a debit or credit card should be made at the College’s Business Office. For more information, see the library staff, call 864-941-8441, or email at librarian@ptc.edu

Two DVDs may be checked out at a time.

To place items on hold, you can use the Library's Online Catalog. Find the link Sign In in the right upper corner and use your P-number and password. If materials are available at the PTC Library, place a hold. If materials belong to another college library circulating collection, you can still place a hold and receive them from one of South Carolina academic libraries via the PASCAL delivers services. Allow one week for materials to arrive from state college libraries.

You will need to specify at what PTC campus you would like to pick up the items. Delivery of the item will then be sent to the specified campus through courier services.

The following databases offer multiple-subject test and study guides:
Learning Express Library
You must register for a personal account to use the wide range of tests, tutorials and eBooks for adults and children. Includes college and graduate school admission tests, career exams, skill building in math, reading, grammar, writing and sciences, U.S citizenship exam, and some materials in Spanish.

Mometrix eLibrary
Access free test preparation materials for career and professional certifications in areas like teaching, nursing, social work, finance, and law enforcement as well as the major grad school admissions exams. Some resources for K-12 audience.

The checkout period for books and AV except DVDs is 3 weeks; for DVDs it is one week.

The PTC Library at Greenwood offers laptops for check out. Complete and submit the Laptop Checkout form.
Library staff will contact you to arrange an appointment for picking up the laptop.

The total borrowing limit is 5 items.

Your PTC ID works as a library card and is used to check out materials. With a state-issued ID and a current class schedule, you can get a PTC ID card at the Enrollment Center located in the B Building of PTC Greenwood Campus.

Click on the Library’s Online Catalog link.
To search for books, select the Advanced Search option and Books in Material by Type.

Parking decals can be obtained in the Enrollment Center in B Building of the PTC Greenwood Campus or your assigned County Campus location.
Provide your current PTC student ID, vehicle registration, and the model and color of your vehicle.

Faxing services are available at the PTC Library on Greenwood campus. The faxing fee is $1.00 per page. Please see a library staff member.

Color printing is not available at PTC.

Depending on which campus you attend, ask for course reserves at the Circulation Desk in the PTC Greenwood Library or the Help Desk at the County Campus Learning Resource Centers. Currently all course reserves are for in-library use only.

Wi-Fi printing is currently not available.
An option for printing from your laptop would be to send your document to your email and use a PTC computer for printing.

Go to the Library Homepage and select a link to Databases or eBooks. When off-campus, you will be asked to login.
Use your P-number and the six digits of your birthdate for password. For example, a person born on May 23, 2001 will have to enter 052301 (mm/dd/yy).

To borrow library materials, you will need to present your PTC ID or PTC Community Borrower’s card.

To renew a book online:

Go to the Library Online Catalog.

Look at top right, and click on "Sign in"

Choose: "PTC Students & Staff” and sign in like you do on Pathway

Click on your name at top right, then click on "My Loans"

Select the book you wish to renew, and click on "Renew."

Books can be requested from other libraries through PASCAL Delivers and Interlibrary Loan services. Articles can be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

Periodicals such as magazines, journals, and newspapers are for in-library use only.

To locate articles, use the Library databases link. You can search databases by subject or by type. When off-campus, you will be asked to login.
